Students, faculty, Historically Underutilized Businesses, and under-served community members most impacted by the U.S. wealth gap get special rates.

As of August 2020, this also includes “ally” companies whose work benefits these groups, but may not be direct members.

We timestamp one phonetic or indecipherable word per page (if there are any), so you can resolve them quickly. (This is more relevant for Budget transcripts than Premium.)

Although 2nd- to 5th-business-day transcript delivery is standard, we deliver on your schedule.

Just mention the delivery date you need when submitting your order. We’ll make it happen (and let you know if it would be a bit extra).

We can time-stamp to audio, time-code to video, use a template you provide (instead of our standard), or meet nearly any other need. And you’ll always see in advance when something changes your pricing.

These executive-level transcripts undergo 2-3 levels of editing and are fully ready for publication in magazines, on websites, in dissertations, etc.

Unlike with other companies, you don’t pay extra for slight-to-moderate audio problems in this tier.

In those cases, we optimize your audio FREE on the back end when needed, to empower our team to produce the most accurate documents possible.

Includes expedited 2nd-business-day delivery.

These transcripts come straight from the transcriber. Although they’re technically “rough drafts,” industry-standard 98%-plus accuracy is still guaranteed.

Budget/Draft transcripts are best for clients who don’t mind a little editing and use these documents internally or informally, like to edit videos, or to gather research and quotes for inclusion in other works.

Includes 5th-business-day delivery.

Why are transcription rates calculated per audio minute?

Transcription rates per minute help you (and us)
fully calculate your investment before you ever order.

Transparency in pricing is important.

If we offered transcript pricing per page, per word, or per line,
it would be impossible to know your investment in advance.

But pricing per audio minute lets you budget in advance, right down to the penny,
whether you have 67 minutes or 40+ hours of audio/video.

Transcription Pricing F.A.Q.

Can you transcribe PDF and handwritten documents?2024-03-23T21:06:31-04:00

Unfortunately not. As of 2024, we only handle audio-to-text and video-to-text transcription. We no longer handle document-to-text transcription.

Why?

We got very few document-to-text transcript projects. And when we did, they were often very resource-intensive.

So now, we focus only on offering top notch specialty audio and video transcription. This makes it easier to keep improving our offering, our team members, and our client support.

Will you fill out a 1099 form before we order?2024-03-23T20:49:23-04:00

Sure. We’re happy to, at your request. We have an updated 1099 we can provide; just ask for a copy.

How much of a discount will I receive?2024-03-23T20:43:35-04:00

At the risk of providing a frustrating answer… this depends on your project details.

It might be helpful to know that just one discount can generally be applied per project. (For example, a student discount and other special rate cannot be mixed.)

Please submit your project details and media for a quote, being as detailed as possible. You’ll see the discounted rate on your initial estimate/invoice.

Can you transcribe my media if I send you my tape recorder?2024-03-23T20:38:03-04:00

What is time-stamping and who uses it?2024-03-23T20:13:39-04:00

Time-stamping is for AUDIO recordings.

With time-stamping, we’ll add three HH:MM:SS time stamps per page, at the start, middle, and end of the left side of your document. The time stamps correspond with the time counter visible on the audio player.

One reason clients might choose this option is if they plan to pull audio quotes for use in other media, e.g., on websites or in presentations. Time stamps make the exact audio location easy to find, eliminating endless rewinding and fast-forwarding to find important quotes.

If you need a different number of time stamps, or need them at different points than is standard, no problem. Just tell us in the special instructions when placing your order.

What is time-coding and who uses it?2024-03-23T20:12:19-04:00

Time-coding is for VIDEO recordings.

We’ll add three HH:MM:SS time codes per page, at the start, middle, and end of the left side of your document. These time stamps correspond with the time counter visible on the video screen while the video is playing.

Note: Onscreen video time codes can be different than the time stamps on the audio player.

Video production companies use time-coding often in post-production. Time-coded transcripts let them easily identify when an interviewee has stumbled, for instance, so they can easily cut that “take” or scene from the video.

If you need a different number of time codes, or need them at different points than is standard, no problem. Just tell us in the special instructions when placing your order.
